Female Support Worker

In my role I support especially women with wide ranging issues. On the ‘Integrating into Birmingham life’ I support women who are third country nationals to understand how to cope with day to day situations that they may be facing. I provide support for the social hub which helps the participants with issues concerning social isolation. This group has become a mutual support network.

Along with colleagues we support victims of abuse and domestic violence. I began to gain and develop in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and children. I have also begun supporting clients by providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic violence. In October 2014 a number of organisations came together to support people suffering from issues of abuse and violence, the project is called Sahara Safe Hub.

Our aim is to alleviate the suffering of women, men and their families who are or who have experienced domestic violence. The work focuses on providing support, guidance and development primarily for individuals who require assistance in changing their circumstances.
